Writer Jonathan Morris sees Revolution in Space as the third part of a trilogy with 1970s television Doctor Who serials Colony in Space and Frontier in Space. In other words, it’s a high-stakes political thriller, as the TARDIS once again lands in a flashpoint of the human race’s future as a spacefaring species.

The Doctor and Sarah find themselves in an asteroid, on the outer reaches of Earth’s solar system. It’s the future, and humans have colonised this inhospitable place, to mine vital minerals to supply their home planet. However, links with Earth are becoming ever more strained, and forces within the colony are seeking independence. Revolution is in the air.  

Meanwhile, in the deepest chambers of the asteroid, a powerful force is emerging. Its influence is growing rapidly. But how will it affect Sarah Jane Smith and her place in future history?

You really get to go on a much deeper journey with all the characters and there’s so much more room to feel all those emotional corners, which is exciting. I love that we had a much bigger cast than usual. There’s a lot of action sequences, and you don’t quite know where it’s going to end up!”
