Torchwood’s Restoration Caper
Andy and Norton get entangled in historical hijinks in Torchwood: The Restoration of Catherine, released today from Big Finish Productions.
In this month’s instalment of the Torchwood Monthly Range, police officer turned Torchwood ally Andy Davidson (Tom Price) and devious 1950s agent Norton Folgate (Tony-nominated actor Samuel Barnett) become stuck in the 1660s.
Catherine de Winter (Ebony Jonelle) must choose a suitor by midnight. Her options aren’t great – the cavalier Squire Edmund Dashington (George Naylor) or the puritan Sir Reginald Hardgoing (Shai Matheson). And then Andy and Norton stagger in out of the storm, and all of time begins to fall apart. The only way to save the universe is for someone to marry Catherine.
Torchwood: The Restoration of Catherine is now available to purchase as a collector’s edition CD (+ download for just £10.99) or as a digital download only (for just £8.99), exclusively here.
Sergeant Andy and duplicitous 1950s Torchwood agent Norton Folgate find themselves trapped inside a house in the seventeenth century.
Can they arrange a wedding before all of time collapses?
Writer and producer James Goss said: “We’ve joined Andy and Norton in the present and in Norton’s time, so I thought, let’s throw them into the distant past where theoretically neither of them has the upper hand and see how they get on.
“I’m a huge fan of Restoration Comedies – bawdy nonsense careering between farce and poetry where it’s up to a cunning yet honest servant to sort everything out. Only in this case, Norton’s the servant.”
Actor Tom Price added: “I really love this episode because anything that throws a smaller cast into a small situation, I always find delightful, but also, I really love working with Sam Barnett and I love Norton. The chemistry with Norton and Andy is so much fun – I love bouncing through those scenes particularly.”
