The Last Day is finally here
The Seventh Doctor makes his final stand in The Last Day Part Two, an epic full-cast audio drama box set from Big Finish Productions, released today.
Sylvester McCoy’s clownish and cunning Doctor has had a long old life. Across 27 years of Doctor Who TV stories, audio dramas, novels, and more, he’s made many friends and even more enemies. And now, numerous strands of his complicated journey come together – as his life comes to an end.
The Seventh Doctor Adventures: The Last Day is an epic twelve-part story told over two box sets; Part One was released in December 2023, and Part Two is available from today. Written by Guy Adams and Matt Fitton, this adventure sees the Doctor attempt to put things right across the universe, once and for all.
In the second half of the story, the citizens of the Dark Universe gather, monsters and villains make their moves, and events head steadily towards the Doctor’s final mission – collecting the Master’s remains from Skaro, as glimpsed in the 1996 Doctor Who TV movie.
Doctor Who – The Seventh Doctor Adventures: The Last Day Part Two is now available to own for just £22.99 (collector’s edition CD box set + download) or £18.99 (download only), exclusively here. Please note: the collector’s edition CD box set is strictly limited to 1,500 copies and will not be repressed.
The Doctor’s friends and enemies are dead, or dying, as they battle to reach their old associate. Are they coming to help him, or to stop him?
As he reaches the end of his life, a price will be paid for a bargain made long ago.
The Seventh Doctor’s last day is here.
For this grand finale-style adventure, the Doctor’s joined by a lot of his friends: Ace (Sophie Aldred), Melanie Bush (Bonnie Langford), Professor Bernice Summerfield (Lisa Bowerman), Thomas Hector Schofield, aka Hex (Philip Olivier), Sally Morgan (Amy Pemberton), Chris Cwej (Travis Oliver), and Roz Forrester (Yasmin Bannerman).
But it’s not all good news for the Doctor, as plenty of his enemies are also returning, including Kane (Edward Peel), the Master (Geoffrey Beevers), the Sontarans (Dan Starkey), the Mother (Richenda Carey), Garundel (Stuart Milligan), and Hob (Wayne Forester).
Sylvester McCoy said: “The motley crew! It's been an absolute delight having everyone back, because some I've kept in touch with and worked with over the years and some I haven't, so it's really great to reignite all the memories in one's diminishing brain and remember the fun we had.”
Actor Sophie Aldred added: “Playing this character for more than half my life and now meeting with old friends, it's been like having a party, which is lovely. Ace has great fun in the scenes with Garundel, Kane, the Mother, and the Master. I love the comedy of it. They're funny and they're great characters, all of them.
“It was good seeing Stuart again playing Garundel, who's just great. How fun to have a camp baddie like that. And then of course, seeing Eddie Peel again after all these years. We've bumped into each other occasionally, but to hear that chilling voice – no pun intended – of Kane is great.”
This box set also includes Fond Memories by Alison Lawson, a new adventure for the Seventh Doctor and Ace, which is the last of 2024’s bonus Interludes. Interludes are hour-long audiobook adventures with special music and effects, bundled exclusively as download extras with selected classic Doctor box sets. Details of how to download this story will follow next month.
