Dan Dare on BBC Radio
Dan Dare is taking over the cosmos, and now he's taking over BBC Radio 4 Extra airwaves too! There's never been a better time to discover the proclaimed "Biggles of Space"...
Dan Dare first appeared in the Eagle comic story Dan Dare, Pilot of the Future from 1950 to 1967 (and subsequently in reprints); and was dramatised seven times a week on Radio Luxembourg between 1951–1956.
Described as ‘Biggles in Space’, the original incarnation was seen by some as the British equivalent of Buck Rogers and Flash Gordon. And in December 2016 Dan Dare returned in two new audio box sets from production company B7 Media in association with Big Finish. Tune into the new trailer for season 1.
Dan Dare – The Audio Adventures Volumes One and Two star Ed Stoppard as British sci-fi icon Dan Dare, alongside Geoff McGivern, Heida Reed and Raad Rawi as the Mekon. Each set contains three audio adventures based on the Eagle comic strip Dan Dare, created by Rev Marcus Morris and Frank Hampson.
Make sure you tune in to the broadcasts of Dan Dare on BBC Radio 4 Extra over the coming weeks. And keep an eye on the Big Finish Facebook and Twitter accounts around that time if you enjoy the adventures of Dan Dare...
If you’ve never heard the adventures of Dan Dare before, you can try before you buy, and listen to free extracts from Volume 1: Voyage to Venus and Volume 2: Operation Saturn.
